Schuett continues a strong charge towards Rookie of the Year honors

Dupo, IL (August 24, 2015) If you look at Kyle Schuett’s results from this 2015 season so far, it would be hard to tell that it is his first season in midget racing. With one top five finish and several top 10 finishes, young Schuett has shown a lot of speed and talent early in his midget racing career. This past weekend was no exception, as Kyle picked up another top ten finish with the Lucas Oil POWRi midgets at Lincoln Speedway in Lincoln, Illinois.

In heat race action, Kyle started third and was able to lead a few laps before finishing second to former POWRi champion, Andrew Felker. Based on passing points, this put Kyle lining up sixth in the 30 lap A-main event. On a night, where a field of 23 cars consisted of at least 12 other former national midget feature winners, Kyle raced hard and ended with a tenth place finish. This marked another top ten and keeps him comfortably sitting fourth in the POWRi National point standings.

With the big picture in mind, another top ten finish shows the consistency that Kyle needs in order to stay up near the front of the point standings and on top of the Rookie of the Year points numbers. The Schuett Racing team and Kyle continue gaining valuable experience each weekend, and it will be no time until Kyle’s consistent top 10 finishes become consistent top five finishes.

On Saturday, the team headed to Macon Speedway, where Mother Nature once again was the winner as the night had to be canceled due to rain. The team will now take a couple weeks off and will be back in action on Friday, September 11th when the POWRi midgets head to Jacksonville Speedway for the Herb Barlow Memorial. The following night, the POWRi midgets will head to Spoon River Speedway for the Tom Knowles Memorial. This weekend of racing is one of the longest standing weekends in midget racing history and tends to attract high car counts and a lot of great racers. Be sure to follow Facebook for updates all weekend long.

Kyle and his Schuett Racing team would like to thank everyone for their support and a big thank you to season sponsors - Illiana Insurance Agency, Progressive Propane, Bergfield Farms, KBR Performance, Rod End Supply, FK Indy, Hoosier Tire Midwest, AMSOIL by Roger Clapp, Steve Thomas Racing, Bell Racing, ButlerBuilt Professional Seat Systems, BOSS Chassis, R & B Powdercoating, J & K Rentals, and Keizer Wheels.
